Expired Domains to Lose Their Google Juice

Written by Jason Barrett.  Posted under Domaining

I read on Marketing Pilgrim that Google will be resetting a domain name’s built up equity within the search engine rankings when a domain name expires.  This is an attempt to keep SEOs and domainers from gaming their ranking system by picking up valuable deleting domains.

My take is that just grabbing a domain for existing equity is a short-term play.  You knew they are going to downgrade these types of sites eventually and now they have come out and admitted it.  The good news is that now you can go back to focusing on good generic names that are dropping and you can disregard random names that offer little or no type-in probability.
